French Toast Casserole Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3 c milk .
  • 8 eggs .
  • 2-3 tbsps sugar (I omit if using a sweet bread) .
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract .
  • 10 c stale bread, cubed .
  • 3/4 tsp salt (optional) .
  • 2 tsps ground cinnamon (omit if using cinnamon bread)

Directions
  • Step #1 Place bread cubes in a greased 13x9 in baking dish.
  • Step #2 Beat eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, sugar, cinnamon & salt if using.
  • Step #3 Pour mixture evenly over bread cubes.
  • Step #4 Press down slightly on bread to even out in pan, cover & put in the fridge 8 hrs or overnight.
  • Step #5 Remove from refrigerator 30 mins before baking.
  • Step #6 (Original recipe called for dotting with 2T.
  • Step #7 butter, & a cinnamon-sugar topping I omit this, adding all the cinnamon & some sugar to the egg mixture).
  • Step #8 Cover up & bake this at 350 for 45-50 mins or until knife inserted near center comes out clean.
  • Step #9 Let stand 5 mins.
  • Step #10 Serve with syrup if desired.
