Slow-cooker Cornbread Dressing Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 c sliced celery .
  • 2 (10 3/4 oz) cans cream of chicken soup .
  • 4 large eggs .
  • 1 (16 oz) package herb stuffing mix .
  • 1/2 tsp pepper .
  • 4 1/2 c cornbread, crumbled .
  • 1 tbsp rubbed sage .
  • 1/2 tsp salt .
  • 2 tbsps butter, cut up .
  • 1 medium onion, sliced .
  • 28 oz low sodium chicken broth

Directions
  • Step #1 Stir together cornbread crumbs, stuffing mix, & next 8 ingredients In a large-ish bowl.
  • Step #2 Pour conrbread mixture into a lightly greased 5 1/2 or 6-quart slow cooker (aka crockpot).
  • Step #3 Dot with butter.
  • Step #4 Cook, covered, on LOW 4 hrs or until cooked through & set.
  • Step #5 Note: For testing purposes only, Southern Living used Pepperidge Farm Herb Spice uped Stuffing mix.
  • Step #6 They also used 2 - 7.
  • Step #7 5 oz packages Martha White Yellow Cornbread Mix prepared according to package directions in 8-inch square pans.
  • Step #8 The baked cornbread made 7 c crumbs so they suggest freezing the rest.
  • Step #9 **Cook time does not include preparing the cornbread.
