Apple-stuffed French Toast Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 large tart apples, peeled & thinly sliced .
  • 1/2 c butter, cubed .
  • 1 tbsp light corn syrup .
  • 1 1/2 tsps ground cinnamon .
  • CARAMEL SAUCE .
  • 1 c sliced pecans .
  • 1 c packed brown sugar .
  • 1 1/2 c milk .
  • 1/2 c packed brown sugar .
  • 1/4 tsp salt .
  • 1/4 c butter, cubed .
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg .
  • 12 slices Italian bread (1/2 inch thick) .
  • 2 tbsps light corn syrup .
  • 6 eggs .
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Directions
  • Step #1 In a small saucepan, mix the brown sugar, butter & corn syrup; cook & stir over med-heat/flame until thickened.
  • Step #2 Pour into a greased 13-in.
  • Step #3 x 9-in.
  • Step #4 x 2-in.
  • Step #5 baking dish; top this with half of the pecans, a single layer of bread & remaining pecans.
  • Step #6 Arrange apples & remaining bread over the top.
  • Step #7 In a large bowl, milk, whisk the eggs, cinnamon, vanilla, salt & nutmeg.
  • Step #8 Pour over bread.
  • Step #9 Cover up & put in the fridge overnight.
  • Step #10 Remove from the refrigerator 30 mins before baking.
  • Step #11 Bake, uncovered, at 350° for 35-40 mins or until lightly browned.
  • Step #12 Caramel sauce:.
  • Step #13 In a small saucepan, mix the sauce ingredients.
  • Step #14 Cook & stir over med-heat/flame until thickened.
  • Step #15 Serve with the French toast.
