Ingredients
5 c Bread mix; up to six
1 1/2 c -lukewarm water
2 Eggs; beaten
1 tb Dry yeast
Directions
Step #1 --TOPPING----- 1 Egg; beaten 2 tb Coarse salt 1/2 c Butter; melted Lightly grease 2 large baking sheets.
Step #2 In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in lukewarm water.
Step #3 mix in 2 eggs & butter.
Step #4 Add 5 c bread mix.
Step #5 Stir well.
Step #6 Add extra bread mix to make a soft, but not too sticky dough.
Step #7 Knead about 5 mins until dough is smooth.
Step #8 Roll pieces of dough into ropes about 1/2 inch in diameter & 18 to 24 inches long.
Step #9 Form into pretzel shapes.
Step #10 For pretzel sticks, cut dough into 5 to 6 inch lengths.
Step #11 Place on prepared baking sheets.
Step #12 preheat your trusty oven to 425.
Step #13 Brush tops of pretzels with beaten egg & Sprinkle top with coarse salt.
Step #14 Bake as soon as possible 12 to 15 mins, until brown & crisp.
Step #15 Makes 12 to 15 large pretzels.
Step #16 Variation For a chewier pretzel, drop pretzel-shaped dough into a pan of boiling water.
Step #17 When dough floats to the top of the water, remove it.
Step #18 preheat your trusty oven to 400.
Step #19 Brush with egg & Sprinkle top with coarse salt.
Step #20 Bake about 30 mins.
Step #21 All of these recipes I have posted using my bread mix can be adjusted to use with the bread machine, some using the dough setting.
Step #22 I have had excellent results.
Step #23 Will try to post more over the weekend as I get time.
Step #24 Also have a lot of other "mix" recipes if anyone is interested.
