Apple Fritters (ff) Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3 tb Sugar;
  • 1 tb Unsalted butter; melted
  • 1/4 c Maple syrup;
  • 1 c All-purpose flour
  • 2 Egg yolks
  • 2 Egg whites
  • 2 tb Brandy
  • 1/4 ts Salt
  • 1 tb Sugar
  • 1 c Vegetable oil
  • 4 Macintosh apples; cored
  • 1/2 c Milk

Directions
  • Step #1 In a medium mixing bowl, whisk to mix the egg yolks, milk, brandy & melted butter.
  • Step #2 Sift in the flour, sugar, & salt.
  • Step #3 mix well with a whisk, & chill for at least one hr.
  • Step #4 Heat oil in a large nonstick or cast-iron skillet over med-heat/flame.
  • Step #5 Beat the egg whites until stiff, but not dry, with a whisk.
  • Step #6 Fold egg whites into the batter using a rubber spatula.
  • Step #7 Slice apples into 1/4-inch slices; discard the first & last slice of each apple.
  • Step #8 Dip the apple slices into the batter to coat.
  • Step #9 Remove with a fork & carefully place this in the heated oil.
  • Step #10 Cook in small batches until deep golden in color, about 1 1/2 mins per side.
  • Step #11 Transfer to paper towel-lined plate.
  • Step #12 Serve as soon as possible with a sprinkling of sugar or a drizzle of maple syrup.
