Cinnamon Date Scones Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 1/2 tsps baking powder
  • 1/3 c milk
  • 2/3 c sliced dates
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten
  • 5 tbsps cold butter
  • 4 tbsps sugar, divided
  • 2 c all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Directions
  • Step #1 In a bowl, mix the flour, 2 tbsps sugar, baking powder & salt.
  • Step #2 Cut in butter until the mixture resembles fine crumbs.
  • Step #3 Stir in dates.
  • Step #4 Combine eggs & milk; stir in theto crumb mixture just until mixed (dough will be soft).
  • Step #5 Turn onto a lightly floured surface.
  • Step #6 With lightly floured hands, carefully knead dough 10 times.
  • Step #7 Pat into a 9-in.
  • Step #8 x 6-in.
  • Step #9 rectangle.
  • Step #10 Using a floured knife, cut into six 3-in.
  • Step #11 squares; cut each square diagonally in half.
  • Step #12 Place on a greased baking sheet.
  • Step #13 Combine the cinnamon & remaining sugar; sprinkle it over scones.
  • Step #14 Bake at 400F degrees F for 12-14 mins or until lightly browned.
  • Step #15 Remove to a wire rack.
