The zest of 1 navel orange; removed in strips with a vegetable peeler
3 tb Fresh lemon juice
2 tb Grand Marnier; or other orange-flavored liqueur
1/8 ts Salt
Directions
Step #1 In a large saucepan mix the blueberries, uncovered, the zest, boil the mixture, covered, for 5 mins, and 1/4 c water, & let simmer it, stirring every once in awhile, the sugar, for 5 mins.
Step #2 Discard the zest & puree the mixture in batches in a mixer or food processor/blender.
Step #3 Transfer the puree to a bowl & whisk in the Grand Marnier, the lemon juice, the salt, the vanilla, the heavy cream, & the half-and-half.
Step #4 Force the mixture through a very fine sieve set over another bowl & chill it, for 1 hr, covered, or until it is cold.
Step #5 Freeze the mixture in an ice-cream freezer according to the manufacturer's instructions.
