Bourbon Pepper Steak Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 tb Cider vinegar
  • 1/2 c Yellow mustard
  • 2 tb Mild red chili powder
  • 1 Onion; finely sliced
  • 1/2 c Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tb Lard
  • 3 dr Liquid smoke
  • 1 tb Minced garlic
  • 2 tb Hot red chili powder
  • 14 oz Tomato puree
  • 1/2 c Brown sugar; firmly packed
  • 1/4 c Bourbon

Directions
  • Step #1 Place the lard in a large, non reactive saucepan & saute the onion & garlic until soft, about 10 mins.
  • Step #2 Add the remaining ingredients & continue cooking for about another 30 mins.
  • Step #3 Stir frequently to prevent sauce from burning.
  • Step #4 Allow to rest for at least an hr before using.
  • Step #5 This is a marinating or basting sauce.
  • Step #6 To marinate, over night, coat the meat with the sauce & leave in the refrigerator, covered, or about 8 to 12 hrs.
  • Step #7 Continue to baste with the sauce as the meat cooks.
  • Step #8 It's NOT a table sauce, but works best when cooked into the meat.
  • Step #9 Best with pork or beef.
