Bread Pudding With Brandy Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3 lg Eggs
  • 2/3 c Raisins
  • 1/4 c Marsala or brandy
  • 2 ts Grated lemon peel
  • 1 Apple; peeled, cored, sliced
  • 9 White sandwich bread slices
  • 1/2 c Sugar
  • 2 tb Lemon juice
  • 1 ts Vanilla
  • 1 Egg yolk
  • 1/3 c sliced dried figs
  • 5 tb Butter; room temperature
  • 1 1/2 c Whipping cream
  • 1 1/2 c Milk;

Directions
  • Step #1 mix raisins, figs & Marsala in small bowl.
  • Step #2 let this stand 30 mins.
  • Step #3 preheat your trusty oven to 350F.
  • Step #4 Generously butter 8-c souffle dish.
  • Step #5 Spread 1 side of each bread slice generously with butter.
  • Step #6 Cut bread into 1-inch cubes.
  • Step #7 Transfer to prepared dish.
  • Step #8 Mix sugar, eggs & egg yolk in large bowl.
  • Step #9 Whisk in cream & next 4 ingredients.
  • Step #10 stir in the apple, raisins & figs with Marsala.
  • Step #11 Pour over bread & stir this to mix.
  • Step #12 let this stand 5 mins.
  • Step #13 Set souffle dish in large baking pan.
  • Step #14 Add enough hot water to large pan to come 1 inch up sides of souffle dish.
  • Step #15 Bake until custard is set & top is golden & puffed slightly in center, approximately 1 3/4 hrs.
  • Step #16 Serve warm.
  • Step #17 Serves 6.
