Browned Squab With Roasted Salt And Pepper Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/4 ts Ginger grated
  • 1/2 ts Butter
  • 1 ts Cornflour
  • 1/4 ts Garlic grated
  • 1 ts Spring onion green finely sliced
  • 1 sm Capsicum finely sliced
  • Salt to taste
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1 ts Oil
  • 1/4 ts Green chilli sauce
  • 4 c Water
  • 2 md Slice plain bread
  • 2 Onions sliced in thin slices

Directions
  • Step #1 Heat oil in a large deep pan.
  • Step #2 Add ginger garlic & fry for 1 min.
  • Step #3 Add onions, stirfry till dark brown.
  • Step #4 Add water, bring to a boil, turn to simmer.
  • Step #5 Make toasts of bread, apply butter.
  • Step #6 Add sauce, pepper, salt, to soup.
  • Step #7 Break toasts in quarters, add to soup.
  • Step #8 Boil till bread softens.
  • Step #9 Mash bread lightly with back of spoon.
  • Step #10 Mix cornflour in 1/2 c water, add to soup.
  • Step #11 Boil for one min.
  • Step #12 Serve hot.
  • Step #13 Making time: 25 mins Makes: 5 servings Shelflife: Best fresh Variation: If on a diet, one may use brown whole wheat bread instead of white milk or plain bread.
