Buttermilk Scones With Jam And Yogurt Cheese Or Creme Fra Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3 c Flour
  • 1/2 c Currants;
  • 1 tb Heavy cream; for brushing
  • 1/2 ts Baking soda
  • 1 ts Salt
  • 1 c Buttermilk
  • 3/4 c Unsalted butter -;
  • 2 1/2 ts Baking powder
  • 1/3 c Sugar

Directions
  • Step #1 preheat your trusty oven to 400F degrees.
  • Step #2 mix the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder & baking soda in a large bowl.
  • Step #3 Add butter & mix with your fingertips to a coarse meal.
  • Step #4 Add buttermilk & mix just until mixd.
  • Step #5 Add currants, if desired.
  • Step #6 Transfer dough to a floured board & divide into 2 parts.
  • Step #7 Roll each to 3/4-inch thick rounds.
  • Step #8 Cut each round into 8 wedges & place slightly separated on a greased baking sheet.
  • Step #9 Brush the tops with the cream, & bake for 15 mins, or until lightly browned.
  • Step #10 Serve warm, split in half with butter and marmalade.
  • Step #11 This recipe yields 16 scones.
