Step #1 In a small bowl let the raisins soak in the water.
Step #2 In a dry small heavy skillet heat the sugar over moderate heat, cook it, until it begins to melt, undisturbed, until it is a golden caramel, swirling the skillet every once in awhile, & remove the skillet from the heat.
Step #3 Add the raisins with the water, stir in the the rum & cook the mixture over moderately-low heat, stirring, & salt, butter, until the caramel is dissolved.
Step #4 Divide the ice cream between 4 dishes, halve the bananas lengthwise & crosswise, & arrange 2 banana pieces in each dish.
Step #5 Spoon the butterscotch sauce over the ice cream & bananas.
