Step #1 In a saucepan, bring chickpeas & their soaking water to a boil and then cook over med-heat/flame for 1+1/2 hrs.
Step #2 In a separate pan, stir-fry the onions & garlic in the butter until they begin to brown.
Step #3 Add the coriander leaves & stir-fry for a few moments longer, then add the contents of the frying pan & the remaining ingredients to the chickpeas.
Step #4 Cover & cook over medium heat for 1 hr or until the chickpeas are tender.
