Chocolate Ambrosia Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 c Granulated sugar
  • 1 lb Cream cheese
  • CRUST
  • 1/3 c Amaretto
  • 1 ts Shortening
  • 1 1/4 c Chocolate wafer crumbs
  • 2 tb Sugar
  • 2 lg Eggs
  • FILLING
  • 2/3 c Sour cream
  • Whipped cream; optional
  • 1/2 c Butter; melted
  • TOPPING
  • 6 oz Semisweet chocolate
  • 1 ts Vanilla
  • 2 oz Semisweet chocolate
  • Toasted almond slices
  • 1/2 ts Almond flavoring

Directions
  • Step #1 mix crumbs, sugar & metled butter.
  • Step #2 Press into bottom & halfway sides of 7"-8" springform pan.
  • Step #3 Chill while making filing.
  • Step #4 Beat Cream cheese well until smooth.
  • Step #5 Beat in sugar slowly.
  • Step #6 Beat in eggs one at a time at lowish speed.
  • Step #7 Add cooled chocolate, flavorings, amaretto & sour cream.
  • Step #8 Beat at lowish speed until thoroughly mixed.
  • Step #9 pour this into prepared pan.
  • Step #10 Bake in 300F oven for 1 hr.
  • Step #11 Turn off heat & leave cake in oven 1 hr longer.
  • Step #12 Cool in pan at room temperature, then chill at least 24 hrs in refrigerator.
  • Step #13 For topping, melt chocolate with shortening.
  • Step #14 Garnish with whipped cream flavored with amaretto if desires & Sprinkle top with almonds.
