Chocolate Angel Food Cake Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/3 c Heavy cream; whipped
  • 6 tb Sugar
  • 1/2 c Candied cherries
  • 8 Squares unsweetened cooking chocolate
  • 1 c Butter
  • 2/3 c Irish whiskey
  • 1/2 lb Graham crackers
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1/2 c Walnut halves

Directions
  • Step #1 Crush the crackers & set them aside.
  • Step #2 Melt the chocolate with the butter in a double boiler.
  • Step #3 Cream the eggs & sugar in a bowl until they are pale & thickened, then fold in the chocolate.
  • Step #4 Add 3/4 of the cherries & walnuts to the chocolate mixture, saving remaining cherries & walnuts for decoration.
  • Step #5 Fold in all but one Tbsp.
  • Step #6 of the whiskey.
  • Step #7 Oil a 9-inch baking dish, line with the crushed crackers, then scrape all of chocolate mixture into the pan.
  • Step #8 Decorate the top with the remaining cherries & walnuts & put in the fridge the cake overnight.
  • Step #9 remove this from refrigerator about 10 mins before serving.
  • Step #10 Add the whiskey to the cream & pipe around the top of the cake.
  • Step #11 Serve.
