A 17.5 cm; round cake tin or 1 kg loaf tin, greased & base lined with greaseproof paper
150 g Self raising flour;
Directions
Step #1 Rub the butter into the flour, stir in the the sugar & nuts.
Step #2 Break up the chocolate & melt it in the Guinness in a saucepan, over a gentle heat.
Step #3 Whisk lightly.
Step #4 When cool, mix the liquid into the dry ingredients with the beaten egg & rising agents.
Step #5 Transfer the mixture to the chosen tin and bake in a moderate oven Gas Mark 4, 180 deg C, 350 deg F for 45 mins until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.
Step #6 allow this to cool in the tin for 10 - 15 mins before turning out onto a wire rack.
