Chocolate Hamantaschen Recipe

Ingredients
  • 75 g Walnuts; sliced
  • 50 g Butter; cut into small pieces
  • 50 g Demerara sugar;
  • 1 100 gram bar Cadbury's Bournville chocolate
  • 1/2 ts Baking powder
  • 1/2 ts Bicarbonate of soda
  • 150 ml Guinness;
  • 1 lg Egg
  • A 17.5 cm; round cake tin or 1 kg loaf tin, greased & base lined with greaseproof paper
  • 150 g Self raising flour;

Directions
  • Step #1 Rub the butter into the flour, stir in the the sugar & nuts.
  • Step #2 Break up the chocolate & melt it in the Guinness in a saucepan, over a gentle heat.
  • Step #3 Whisk lightly.
  • Step #4 When cool, mix the liquid into the dry ingredients with the beaten egg & rising agents.
  • Step #5 Transfer the mixture to the chosen tin and bake in a moderate oven Gas Mark 4, 180 deg C, 350 deg F for 45 mins until a skewer inserted into the centre comes out clean.
  • Step #6 allow this to cool in the tin for 10 - 15 mins before turning out onto a wire rack.
  • Step #7 This cake moistens as it is kept.
