Chocolate Nut Torah Roulade Pt 1 Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 Squares; unsweetened chocolate, melted
  • 1/2 c Finely sliced walnuts or pecans
  • 2 1/4 c All-purpose flour
  • 1/2 c Sugar
  • 1/4 ts Salt
  • 1/4 c Dark; unsweetened cocoa
  • 1 c Unsalted butter;
  • 4 ts Sugar

Directions
  • Step #1 preheat your trusty oven to 300F degrees F.
  • Step #2 Cover baking sheet with parchment paper; draw two circles, each 7 to 7-1/2 inches.
  • Step #3 Measure flour, cocoa, sugar & salt into the food processor/blender or into the large bowl of electric mixer.
  • Step #4 Mix well.
  • Step #5 Cut the butter into thin slices & add to the flour mixture.
  • Step #6 Mix or process until mixture resembles moist sand.
  • Step #7 Add the chocolate & nuts & continue mixing until a dough forms.
  • Step #8 Shape dough into a smooth ball.
  • Step #9 Cut the dough into quarters.
  • Step #10 Shape each quarter into a smooth ball.
  • Step #11 Place dough ball onto the center of each circle drawn on the parchment paper.
  • Step #12 Flatten the round to within 1/2 inch of the inside edge of the round.
  • Step #13 With a fork, make impressions on the top of each round & use the fork to round off the edges.
  • Step #14 Sprinkle top each round with 1 tsp sugar.
  • Step #15 With a straight knife, cut each round into eight wedges; leave wedges in place.
  • Step #16 Bake for 1 hr or until the shortbread is a light golden color.
  • Step #17 With a straight-edged knife, cut the wedges apart while still warm.
  • Step #18 Yield: 32 wedges.
