Chocolate Tiramisu Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 c Sifted powdered sugar; sift then measure
  • 1 tb Shortening
  • 2 c All-purpose flour
  • 1 c Butter or margarine -;
  • 1/2 c Finely sliced pecans
  • 1 ts Vanilla
  • 6 oz Semisweet chocolate chips

Directions
  • Step #1 preheat your trusty oven to 350 degrees.
  • Step #2 With electric mixer, beat butter and sugar until fluffy.
  • Step #3 Add vanilla.
  • Step #4 slowly add flour.
  • Step #5 Mix well.
  • Step #6 Shape dough into sticks about 2 1/2 inches long, 1/2-inch wide & 1/2-inch thick.
  • Step #7 Place on ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Step #8 Flatten 3/4 of each cookie lengthwise with fork to 1/4-inch thickness, leaving the patterns of the fork tines in the dough.
  • Step #9 Bake for 10 to 12 mins, or until done.
  • Step #10 Remove to wire racks to cool.
  • Step #11 mix chocolate chips and shortening; microwave on high power 45 to 60 seconds, or until melted.
  • Step #12 Or melt in top of double boiler or in a heavy-bottomed pan.
  • Step #13 Put sliced pecans in a small c or bowl.
  • Step #14 Dip unflattened end of each cookie in chocolate mixture; dip into sliced pecans.
  • Step #15 Place on waxed paper until firm.
  • Step #16 store this in airtight containers between layers of waxed paper.
  • Step #17 These cookies freeze well.
  • Step #18 Yields 3 to 4 dozen cookies.
  • Step #19 Tester's note: Dough might appear slightly dry when mixing; I used my hands to knead in the last 1/2 c flour.
  • Step #20 Wonderfully tender, melt-in-your-mouth cookies.
  • Step #21 Beautiful on a cookie tray.
