Ingredients
  • 1 ts Ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 c Candied peel; sliced
  • 1 lb Cooking apples; peeled, cored, & finely sliced
  • 1 ts Ground nutmeg
  • 3 c Dried currants
  • 1 1/2 c Golden raisins
  • 2 1/2 c Brown sugar;firmly packed
  • Grated zest & juice of 2 lemons
  • 3/4 c Brandy
  • 1 1/2 c Dark raisins
  • 1 ts Ground allspice

Directions
  • Step #1 Introduction: Serve this spicy fruit mixture in pies or miniature tarts for Christmas festivities.
  • Step #2 Prepare the mince well beforehand to ensure full flavor--and to make the pie-making go faster.
  • Step #3 Makes about 10 c.
  • Step #4 Preparation time: 6 weeks.
  • Step #5 Cooking time: 30 mins.
  • Step #6 Step 1: In a large bowl, place all the ingredients & mix well to mix.
  • Step #7 Cover with plastic wrap & leave overnight.
  • Step #8 Step 2: Pack the mixture into sterilized jars & close tightly.
  • Step #9 Leave in the refrigerator for 4 to 6 weeks.
