Bacon-wrapped Meat Loaf With Brown Sugar-ketchup Glaze Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 Box dark brown sugar
  • 1 lb High-quality bacon strips
  • 1 lg Pack grissini-style bread sticks

Directions
  • Step #1 Cut bacon strips in half & lay them out on a cutting board.
  • Step #2 Break the bread sticks into 4-inch lengths.
  • Step #3 Sprinkle top the bacon with brown sugar so that the bacon is completely coated.
  • Step #4 Press the sugar onto the bacon with your fingers.
  • Step #5 Continue to Sprinkle top sugar & press it on until no more sugar will adhere.
  • Step #6 Preheat the oven to 325F degrees.
  • Step #7 Set a rack over a foil-lined baking sheet.
  • Step #8 Roll the bacon strips, sugar side in, around the bread sticks in a spiral fashion.
  • Step #9 Be sure to begin as close to the bread stick edge as possible & roll very tightly.
  • Step #10 Place seam side down on the rack.
  • Step #11 Bake about 20 mins, but watch carefully so that the sugar doesn't burn in the last mins of cooking.
  • Step #12 Remove them from the oven & let rest for an hr on the rack to become firm.
  • Step #13 (To prepare ahead & freeze, bake the sticks half way, freeze on a baking sheet, & store this in the freezer in a plastic bag.
  • Step #14 To serve, bake the sticks for the remaining 10 mins.
