Bakewell Tarts Recipe

Ingredients
  • 4 Eggs
  • 3/4 c Butter or margarine
  • 1 pk Caramels; unwrapped
  • 1 c Flour
  • 1 pk Baker's real semi-sweet chocolate chips; optional
  • 1/3 c Heavy cream
  • 4 Squares baker's unsweetened baking chocolate
  • 2 c Pecans or walnut halves; divided
  • 2 c Sugar

Directions
  • Step #1 HEAT oven to 350.
  • Step #2 Grease foil-lined 13x9 baking pan.
  • Step #3 MICROWAVE chocolate squares & butter in microwavable bowl on HIGH 2 mins or until butter is melted.
  • Step #4 Stir until chocolate is completely melted.
  • Step #5 STIR sugar into chocolate until well mixed.
  • Step #6 Mix in eggs.
  • Step #7 stir in the flour.
  • Step #8 Spread 1/2 of batter in prepared pan.
  • Step #9 BAKE 25 mins, or until batter is firm to the touch.
  • Step #10 MEANWHILE, microwave caramels & cream in microwavable bowl on HIGH 3 mins or until caramels begin to melt.
  • Step #11 Whisk until smooth.
  • Step #12 stir in the 1 up of nuts.
  • Step #13 carefully spread caramel mixture over brownie batter in pan.
  • Step #14 Sprinkle top with chocolate chips, if desired.
  • Step #15 Pour remaining unbaked brownie batter evenly over caramel mixture; Sprinkle top with remaining nuts.
  • Step #16 (Some caramel mixture may peek through.
  • Step #17 ) BAKE extra 30 mins.
  • Step #18 Cool in pan.
  • Step #19 Run knife around edge of pan to loosen brownies from sides.
  • Step #20 Lift from pan using foil as handles.
  • Step #21 Cut into 24 fudge brownies.
