German Sauerbraten Coca-cola Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 Clove garlic, minced 1/2 c COCA-COLA
  • 1 1/2 lb Top round or sirloin steak, Thin strips
  • 2 tb Oil 1/4 c Onions, thinly sliced
  • Boneless 1 c Celery, thinly sliced
  • 1 c Beef broth , 2 1/2 tb Cornstarch
  • Canned & undiluted 1/4 c COCA-COLA
  • 1 ts Salt 2 md Tomatoes, ripe
  • Seeded, & cut into Rice, cooked & hot
  • 1 c Green bell pepper, cored, 1 tb Soy sauce

Directions
  • Step #1 Trim all fat from the meat & cut into pencil-thin strips.
  • Step #2 In a deep skillet or Dutch oven, heat oil, garlic, & salt.
  • Step #3 Add the meat & brown over high heat, about 10 mins, stirring every once in awhile with a fork.
  • Step #4 Add the beef broth.
  • Step #5 Cover & let simmer for 15 to 20 mins, or until the meat is fork-tender.
  • Step #6 stir in the the green pepper strips, celery, onions, & 1/2 c of Coca-Cola.
  • Step #7 Cover & let simmer for 5 mins.
  • Step #8 Do not overcooked; the vegetables should be tender-crisp.
  • Step #9 Peel the tomatoes, cut into wedges, carefully stir in theto meat.
  • Step #10 mix cornstarch with the 1/4 c of Coca-Cola & the soy sauce.
  • Step #11 Stir mixture into the meat & cook this until sauce is thickens, about 1 min, stirring lightly with a fork.
  • Step #12 Serve over hot rice.
  • Step #13 Makes 6 (3/4 c) servings.
