Ingredients
  • Pepper
  • 1 1/2 c Canned or cooked green beans with liquid
  • Salt
  • 1 1/2 c Hot water
  • 2 To 3 lbs pork spareribs
  • 1 md Potatoes, pared & halved

Directions
  • Step #1 Brown spareribs in frying pan without added fat.
  • Step #2 Add water andsimmer for 1 hr.
  • Step #3 Add potatoes to meat & cook this until tender - about 25 mins.
  • Step #4 Add beans & liquid the last 10 mins of cooking.
  • Step #5 If raw beans are used, add with the potatoes.
  • Step #6 Spice up this with salt & pepper.
  • Step #7 Skim off excess fat before serving.
  • Step #8 To complete the meal: serve this with crisp lettuce, tomato & celery salad, & apple betty with lemon sauce for dessert.
  • Step #9 For variety: Beef short ribs may be used with longer cooking.
  • Step #10 Corned beef, ham hock, or ham bone may be used in place of shortribs.
  • Step #11 Cover with water & let simmer about 3 hrs or until tender.
  • Step #12 Omit salt, & continue as above.
  • Step #13 Good with sauerkraut.
