Ingredients
  • 3 tb Olive oil
  • Grinding of black pepper
  • 3 Cloves garlic, minced
  • Juice of 1/4 lemon
  • The Salad:
  • 4 c Mixed greens
  • Nasturtium flowers for garnish
  • 1 1/2 tb Red wine vinegar
  • 1/4 c sliced fresh basil OR 1 Tbsp crumbled dried
  • 1/2 ts Olive oil
  • 1/2 ts Dijon mustard
  • Croutons
  • 1 c Julienne strips cooked ham
  • 1 pn Sugar
  • 1 1/2 tb Freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 ts Butter

Directions
  • Step #1 The Lemon-Basil Vinaigrette: 1.
  • Step #2 Prepare the vinaigrette: In a small bowl, whisk together all the ingredients until smooth.
  • Step #3 Set aside.

  • Step #5 Prepare the salad: In a small skillet, heat the oil & butter over low heat/flame.
  • Step #6 Add the garlic & saute 10 seconds.
  • Step #7 Add the ham and saute for another 10 seconds.
  • Step #8 Off the heat, add the grated cheese.
  • Step #9 3.
  • Step #10 Place the mixed greens in a salad bowl or plate & top this with the ham mixture.
  • Step #11 Garnish with the nasturtium flowers & drizzle the vinaigrette on top.
  • Step #12 top this with croutons.
  • Step #13 Serve this with a good crusty load of French bread & a bottle of dry white French wine.
