Adobe~ Mexican Smoked Chili Marinade Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/4 c Lukewarm water
  • 4 1/2 c All purpose flour
  • 1 c Cold water
  • 1 ts Salt
  • 3 tb Vegetable shortening, melted
  • 1 pk Active dry yeast

Directions
  • Step #1 In a large bowl, soften the yeast in the lukewarm water.
  • Step #2 Mix the salt, 2 tbsps of the shortening, & the cold water together & add to the yeast mixture.
  • Step #3 Sift in the flour slowly, beating well after each addition for a smooth consistency.
  • Step #4 You will probably have to knead in the final c of flour.
  • Step #5 Shape the dough into a ball, brish lightly with the remaining shortening, & cover with a dry cloth.
  • Step #6 Set the bowl in a warm place until doubled in bulk, anout 1 hr.
  • Step #7 Punch the dough down and, on a floured board, knead about 5 mins.
  • Step #8 Shape into 2 round loaves on a well greased baking sheet.
  • Step #9 Cover with a dry cloth & set to rise another 45 mins.
  • Step #10 Preheat the oven to 400F.
  • Step #11 Bake the loaves on a cookie sheet 50 mins, until they are light brown & sound hollow when tapped.
