Ingredients
  • 1/2 c Honey
  • 1 ts Vanilla
  • 1/4 ts Salt
  • 2 c Flour
  • 1 c Shortening
  • 3 Eggs, well, beaten
  • 1/2 c Sugar
  • 2 ts Baking powder
  • Grated rind 1 lemon
  • 1/2 c Finely sliced blanched almonds
  • 1/2 c Powdered sugar

Directions
  • Step #1 Cream shortening & sugar.
  • Step #2 Add honey, eggs, & lemon rind.
  • Step #3 Mix thoroughly.
  • Step #4 Sift flour, measure, & sift three times with baking powder & salt.
  • Step #5 Add sliced nuts & flavoring.
  • Step #6 Mix thoroughly.
  • Step #7 pour this into shallow, well-oiled pan.
  • Step #8 Bake in moderate oven (375 F) 12-15 mins.
  • Step #9 remove this from oven.
  • Step #10 Cool.
  • Step #11 Turn onto board well dusted with powdered sugar.
  • Step #12 Cut in oblong bars.
  • Step #13 Roll in powdered sugar.
  • Step #14 16 servings.
