Apple Streusel Muffins Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 tb Butter, melted
  • 3 Apples, pared & thinly sliced
  • 1 Pie shell, 9"; unbaked
  • 3 tb Flour
  • 27 oz Mincemeat
  • 1 ts Cinnamon
  • 1/3 c Butter, cold
  • 1/2 c Flour
  • 1/4 c Brown sugar
  • 1/4 c Nuts, sliced

Directions
  • Step #1 In large bowl, toss apples with 3 tbsps flour & melted butter; arrange in pastry shell.
  • Step #2 top this with mincemeat.
  • Step #3 In medium bowl, mix remaining 1/2 c flour, sugar & cinnamon; cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  • Step #4 Add nuts; Sprinkle top it over mincement.
  • Step #5 Bake in lower half of 425F degrees oven 10 mins.
  • Step #6 Reduce heat to 375 degrees; bake 25 mins longer or until golden.
  • Step #7 Cool.
  • Step #8 Garnish as desired.
  • Step #9 PAT'S NOTES FROM 1/95: This pie was excellent.
  • Step #10 I used reconstituted mincemeat (1 box) & as many apples as were needed to fill the pie plate - lots more than the recipe calls for.
  • Step #11 I increased the amount of topping to add sweetness because of the increased number of tart apples.
