Large Birthday Cake Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/4 c Flour
  • 3/4 c Milk
  • 1/4 ts Pepper
  • 1 Beef bouillon cube
  • 16 oz Red kidney beans -- Canned
  • 1 lg Onion -- sliced
  • 1 tb Butter
  • 1 ts Chili powder
  • 1/2 ts Cumin
  • 2 ts Salt

  • 2 lb Boneless beef chuck -- lean
  • 2 c Biscuit mix
  • 1 cn Whole-kernel corn --
  • 1 ts Chili powder
  • CHILI DUMPLINGS-----
  • 2 tb Oil

Directions
  • Step #1 Trim all fat from beef & cut into 1" cubes.
  • Step #2 Shake meat with flour, chili powder, salt, cumin & pepper in a paper bag to coat well.
  • Step #3 Add beef cubes to oil, a few at a time, & brown.
  • Step #4 stir in the onion and saute until soft.
  • Step #5 Drain liquids from corn & beans into a large measuring container, add water, if needed,to make 3 c.
  • Step #6 stir in theto beef mixture with beef bouillon cube & cover.
  • Step #7 Heat to boiling; lower heat & let simmer for 2 hrs or until beef is tender.
  • Step #8 stir in the corn & beans; heat to boiling again.
  • Step #9 While vegetables heat, make chili dumplings.
  • Step #10 Heat 1 tbsp butter with chili powder in a small saucepan until bubbly.
  • Step #11 In large bowl add milk & chili-butter mix all at once & stir with a fork until evenly moist.
  • Step #12 Drop batter by tbsp on top of boiling stew to make 12 mounds.
  • Step #13 Cook uncovered, 10 mins.
  • Step #14 Cover.
  • Step #15 Cook 10 mins longer or until dumplings are fluffy-light.
