Ingredients
1/4 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
1 egg
1 c water
1 (.25 oz) package active dry yeast
4 1/2 c all-purpose flour
2 tbsps sugar
1/2 c milk
1/2 c semisweet chocolate chips
2 tbsps butter or margarine
1/3 c baking cocoa
Directions
Step #1 In a mixing bowl, cocoa, yeast, sugar, mix 1-1/4 c flour, salt & baking soda.
Step #2 In a saucepan, heat the water, milk, chocolate chips & butter; stir until chocolate is melted.
Step #3 Cool to 120 degrees F-130 degrees F.
Step #4 Add to dry ingredients; beat on medium speed for 2 mins.
Step #5 Add 1/2 c flour & egg; beat on high for 2 mins.
Step #6 Stir in enough remaining flour to form a stiff dough.
Step #7 Turn onto a floured surface; knead until smooth & elastic, about 6-8 mins.
Step #8 Place in a greased bowl, turning once to grease top.
Step #9 Cover & let rise in a warm place until doubled, about 1 hr.
Step #10 Punch dough down.
Step #11 Turn onto a lightly floured surface; divide in half.
Step #12 Shape into loaves.
Step #13 Place in two greased 8-in.
Step #14 x 4-in.
Step #15 x 2-in.
Step #16 loaf pans.
Step #17 Cover & let rise until doubled, about 1 hr.
Step #18 Bake at 375 degrees F for 25-30 mins or until browned.
Step #19 Remove from pans to cool on wire racks.
