Leche Flan Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 ts Baking soda
  • 1/2 c Candied fruits & peels, fi ely sliced
  • 3 c All-purpose flour
  • 1 1/4 ts Cinnamon; ground
  • Lemon glaze, optional
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2 c Dark molasses
  • 1 1/4 ts Nutmeg; ground
  • 1/2 c Honey
  • 1/2 ts Allspice; ground
  • 1/2 ts Cloves; ground
  • 1/2 c Almonds; slivered
  • 3/4 c Brown sugar; packed

Directions
  • Step #1 stir this together the flour, nutmeg, cinnamon, soda, cloves & allspice.
  • Step #2 In a large mixer bowl, beat the egg; add brown sugar & beat with an electric mixer on medium speed until fluffy.
  • Step #3 stir in the honey and molasses.
  • Step #4 Add dry ingredients to molasses mixture; beat until the mixture is well mixd.
  • Step #5 stir in the almonds & fruits & peels.
  • Step #6 Cover; chill for several hrs.
  • Step #7 On floured surface, roll dough into a 14" square.
  • Step #8 Cut into 3 1/2 x 2" rectangles.
  • Step #9 Place 2" apart on greased cookie sheet.
  • Step #10 Bake @ 375 degrees for 12 to 14 mins or until done.
  • Step #11 Cool cookies about 1 min; remove to wire rack.
  • Step #12 While cookies are warm, brush with the Lemon Glaze, if desired.
