Step #1 Sift flour once, measure, add baking powder & salt & sift.
Step #2 together three times.
Step #3 Add lemon rind to butter.
Step #4 & cream thoroughly; add sugar slowly & cream together until light & flfy.
Step #5 Add eggs, one at a time beating thoroughly after each.
Step #6 Add flour, alternately with mixd lemon juice & water, a small amount at a time beating after each addition until smooth.
Step #7 Bake in two greased 9-inch layer pans in moderate oven (375 degrees F.
Step #8 ) 20 mins, or until done.
Step #9 Spread Luscious Lemon Frosting (see recipe) between layers & on top & sides of cake.
