Lemon Poppy Seed Pound Cake Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 tb Lemon peel; grated
  • 2 2/3 c Flour; sifted
  • 5 Eggs; separated
  • 1/3 c Poppy seed
  • ----CAKE-------
  • 8 oz Cream cheese; softened
  • 3/4 c Lemon juice
  • 1 ts Baking soda
  • 1 1/4 ts Baking powder
  • 1 c Kraft Touch of Butter Spread
  • 1 3/4 c Granulated sugar; divided

Directions
  • Step #1 ---GLAZE------ 1/2 c Powdered sugar; sifted 1 tb Lemon juice CAKE: Heat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Step #2 Beat spread, 1 1/2 c sugar and cream cheese in large bowl at medium speed with electric mixer until light & fluffy.
  • Step #3 mix in egg yolks & juice.
  • Step #4 Add mixd flour, baking powder & baking soda; mix well.
  • Step #5 Beat in poppy seed & peel.
  • Step #6 Set aside.
  • Step #7 Beat egg whites until foamy.
  • Step #8 slowly add reserved 1/4 c sugar, beating until soft peaks form.
  • Step #9 Fold egg whites into batter.
  • Step #10 pour this into greased & floured 10-inch tube pan.
  • Step #11 Bake 55 mins or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean.
  • Step #12 Cool 5 mins; remove this from pan.
  • Step #13 Cool.
  • Step #14 GLAZE: Mix powdered sugar & juice.
