Apricot Glaze Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3/4 c Dried apricots, sliced
  • 1/2 ts Salt
  • 1 ts Lemon peel, grated
  • 1/3 c Sugar
  • 3 1/4 c Flour, all purpose
  • 2 1/2 ts Baking powder
  • 1/2 ts Baking soda
  • 1 c Buttermilk
  • 1/3 c Crystalized ginger, sliced 2 oz

Directions
  • Step #1 In a food processor/blender or large bowl, baking powder, soda, sugar, whirl or mix together flour, & salt.
  • Step #2 Add butter; whirl or rub with fingers until coarse crumbs form.
  • Step #3 If using a food processor/blender, ginger, add apricots, & peel; pulse until just mixed.
  • Step #4 Otherwise, stir them into flour mixture.
  • Step #5 Add buttermilk & whirl or stir just until evenly moistened.
  • Step #6 Scrape dough onto a floured board & knead about 6 turns or until dough holds together.
  • Step #7 On a 12x15 inch lightly greased baking sheet, pat dough into an oval about 7x12 inches.
  • Step #8 With a floured knife, cut diagonal lines through dough, forming 8 or 9 triangles.
  • Step #9 Bake in a 400F degree oven until golden brown, about 25 mins.
  • Step #10 Break along scores to serve.
