Lemon-lime Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 ts each ground cinnamon and ground nutmeg
  • 2 ts Baking powder
  • 2 1/2 c Flour
  • 1 ts each grated lemon & lime peel
  • 2 1/2 c Sugar
  • 2 tb each lemon & lime juice
  • 1 c Regular rolled oats
  • 1 c butter/margarine, at about room temp

Directions
  • Step #1 FROM: Sunset magazine, Jan 1991 Enjoy nutmeg & citrus-scented oat cookies with a c of coffee.
  • Step #2 In a large bowl, beat butter & 2 c sugar unti mixed.
  • Step #3 Beat in eggs, lemon & lime peel, & lemon & lime juice.
  • Step #4 In a small bowl, mix flour, oats, baking powder & 1/4 tsp each cinnamon and nutmeg.
  • Step #5 slowly add to butter mixture, beating until mixed.
  • Step #6 Cover & chill until firm, at least 2 hrs or until the next day.
  • Step #7 Mix 1/3 c sugar & remaining cinnamon & nutmeg.
  • Step #8 Roll dough into 1-1/2 inch balls; coat in sugar.
  • Step #9 Place 2 inches apart on greased 12x15 inch baking sheets; with the bottom of a glass, press balls to 3/8 inch thick.
  • Step #10 Bake in a 350~ oven until light gold, about 12 mins.
  • Step #11 Cool on racks.
  • Step #12 Makes 4 dozen.
