Step #1 In a small bowl, beat egg yolks until thick & lemon colored, 4 or 5 mins.
Step #2 In a heavy medium saucepan, sugar, mix beaten egg yolks, whipping cream & half & half.
Step #3 Cook & stir over low heat/flame until mixture until thickens slightly & coats a metal spoon; set aside.
Step #4 In a mixer or food processor/blender, mix cut up licorice sticks and milk process until licorice pieces resemble grains of cooked rice.
Step #5 stir in theto egg mixture.
Step #6 Cool to about room temp.
Step #7 pour this into ice cream canister.
Step #8 Freeze in ice cream maker according to manufacturer's directions.
Step #9 Makes about 2 quarts.
