Danish Meatballs With Dill Sauce Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 c sour cream
  • 1/3 c finely sliced onion
  • 1 c butter
  • 2 tsps salt
  • 1/2 c heavy cream
  • 2 c chicken broth
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 lb ground pork
  • 1/4 c sliced fresh dill
  •  
  • 1/2 lb ground veal
  • 1 c dry bread crumbs
  • 1/4 c all-purpose flour

Directions
  • Step #1 Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Step #2 In a large bowl, veal, pork, pepper, salt, eggs, mix beef, onion & heavy cream.
  • Step #3 With moistened hands, shape the mixture into 1 inch balls.
  • Step #4 Roll the balls in the bread crumbs until all balls are well coated.
  • Step #5 Arrange in a single layer on a large, shallow baking sheet.
  • Step #6 Melt 1/2 c butter in a large saucepan over low heat/flame.
  • Step #7 Stir in the flour.
  • Step #8 Gradually stir in the the chicken broth.
  • Step #9 Continue stirring until thickened & bubbly, then mix in the sour cream & fresh dill.
  • Step #10 Melt remaining butter in a small saucepan, & drizzle over the meatballs.
  • Step #11 Bake meatballs in the preheated oven 35 mins, turning every once in awhile, until evenly browned.
  • Step #12 Place meatballs in a chafing dish & cover with the sauce to serve.
