Long Life Noodles With Egg Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 ts Salt
  • 3 c Soybean oil
  • 1 c Water
  • 2 lb Fresh cod fillets
  • 1 1/3 c Self rising flour
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 ts Granulated sugar

Directions
  • Step #1 1) Heat oil in a deep pan to 375 F.
  • Step #2 2) Cut fish into wedges approx.
  • Step #3 7" x 2"(wide end) x 1 1/2" (narrow end) 3) With mixer, egg, water, sugar, mix flour, & salt.
  • Step #4 4) Dip each fillet into the batter, coating generoursly, & quickly drop into the oil.
  • Step #5 5) Fry each fillet until dark golden brown, about 5 min.
  • Step #6 6) remove this from oil and place on paper towels or metal rack to drain.
  • Step #7 Yeild: 4 to 6 fish fillets Soybean oil is what your local Long John Silver's uses to fry their fish, & you will best duplicate the real thing by using the same oil.
  • Step #8 But any other oil may be substituted.
  • Step #9 You might want to try canola oil.
  • Step #10 It is the oil lowest in saturated fat, & the taste difference is only slight.
  • Step #11 It's crucial that your oil be hot before frying the fish.
  • Step #12 To test the temp.
  • Step #13 , drip some batter into the oil.
  • Step #14 It should bubble rapidly.
  • Step #15 After 5 min.
  • Step #16 , the test batter should become golden brown.
