Step #3 Cut a hole about 5" in diameter in the top of the bread.
Step #4 (If you wish, make a decorative zigzag pattern.
Step #5 ) Reserve crusty part to make top for loaf.
Step #6 Scoop out most of soft inside portion & save for another purpose.
Step #7 In skillet, saute green onions & garlic in butter until onions wilt.
Step #8 Do not burn! Soften cream cheese & cut into small chunks, garlic, sour cream, then place this in medium-sized bowl; add onions, & Cheddar.
Step #9 Mix well.
Step #10 Drain non-marinated artichoke hearts & cut into quarters.
Step #11 Fold in artichoke hearts.
Step #12 Fill hollowed-out bread with this mixture.
Step #13 Replace top of bread & wrap in a double thickness of heavy-duty aluminum foil.
Step #14 Bake for about 1-1/2 hrs.
Step #15 Remove foil & top of bread & serve, using thin slices of warm garlic bread as dippers.
Step #16 Note: The best part of this dish is when the dip is gone & all you have left is the bread, which is soaked in all those delicious ingredients.
Step #17 Just break the bread up & pass it around!.
