Bamieh Or Okra Stew Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/4 c Shredded barbecued pork, cooked chicken, beef or shrimp
  • Fresh coriander leaves
  • sliced green onions for garnish
  • Dried hot chile flakes, to taste
  • 1 tb Garlic Oil
  • 1 ts Ground peanuts
  • 1 Handful bean sprouts
  • 2 tb Fish sauce , or to taste
  • Stephen Ceideburg
  • 3 oz Fresh whole egg noodles
  • 2 tb Kwan's Sweet & Sour Sauce

Directions
  • Step #1 Whole egg noodles may be purchased in Asian markets (they are labeled "egg wonton-style noodles").
  • Step #2 Serve this dish for breakfast, lunch or as a snack or as a side dish in a Western- style meal.

  • Step #4 Plunge noodles into a pot of boiling water for 4 or 5 seconds.
  • Step #5 Remove & plunge into cold water for 4 or 5 seconds.
  • Step #6 Return to boiling water for 4 or 5 seconds; drain.
  • Step #7 Pour noodles into a bowl.
  • Step #8 Add garlic oil, fish sauce, sweet & sour sauce & dried chile flakes (if you like it hot).
  • Step #9 Dip bean sprouts quickly into boiling water; drain.
  • Step #10 Add to noodles.
  • Step #11 Add one or more of the cooked meats.
  • Step #12 top this with green onions, coriander & ground peanuts.
  • Step #13 Note: This recipe is a version served by street noodles vendors in Thailand.
  • Step #14 Spice upings may be adjusted to your taste.
