Step #1 Sift flour, cardamom & sugar into large bowl.
Step #2 Rub in butter with fingers or cut in with pastry mixer until size of small peas.
Step #3 Using fork, stir in the oil.
Step #4 Slowly add cold water, 1 tsp at a time, tossing with fork until flour is moistened without being wet.
Step #5 Gather dough with moist hands, shape into flattened round & let rest about 15 mins.
Step #6 Roll 1/8-inch thick on lightly floures board.
Step #7 (To facilitate rolling, dough may also be rolled between sheets of wax paper Or unrolled dough may be placed in pan & carefully pressed to cover inside of pan.
Step #8 ) carefully lift & press onto 9-inch square tart pan with removable bottom.
Step #9 Cut off dough edges.
Step #10 bake this at 425F degrees F.
Step #11 10 to 15 mins or until golden brown.
Step #12 Makes 12 servings.
Step #13 NOTE: Unsalted butter will give a more delicate fresh flavor in this pastry.
