M&m Cookies Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/4 c Water
  • 2 12 oz bags milk chocolate
  • 1 Box Nabisco Lorna Doone
  • 35 Kraft caramels, unwrapped
  • Shortbread cookies
  • Chips.

Directions
  • Step #1 1) mix the caramels with the water in a small pan & melt over low heat.
  • Step #2 2) Place the shortbread cookies side by side on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Step #3 3) Spoon a dab of caramel onto each cookie.
  • Step #4 Then place all the cookies in the 'fridge until the caramel firms up.
  • Step #5 4) In the meantime, in a double boiler over low heat/flame, melt the chocolate chips.
  • Step #6 You may also use the microwave for melting the cholocate.
  • Step #7 5) Remove cookies from refrigerator.
  • Step #8 Rest each one on a fork & dip it into the chocolate.
  • Step #9 Tap the fork on the side of the pan or bowl to knock off any excess chocolate.
  • Step #10 Then place each one on a sheet of wax paper & let them cool at room temp.
  • Step #11 This could take several hrs, but bars will set best this way.
  • Step #12 If you must hurry, place back in 'fridge for 30 min.
  • Step #13 Makes 40 bars.
  • Step #14 Variation: Peanut Butter Twix Bars--Substitute 1 c peanut butter mixed with 1/2 c powdered sugar for caramel.
  • Step #15 Follow rest of directions exactly.
