Macaroni & Cheese Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 ts Salt
  • 3 tb Flour; all-purpose
  • 2 c Cheddar or Am cheese; shred'
  • 1 c Onions; sliced
  • 3 c Milk
  • Paprika
  • 1 tb Mustard; prepared
  • 1/8 ts Pepper; black; ground
  • 8 oz Elbow Macaroni; uncooked
  • 3 tb Butter or margarine
  • 1 Pepper; green bell

Directions
  • Step #1 Cook elbow macaroni according to package directions for 7 mins; drain.
  • Step #2 Set aside.
  • Step #3 In a pan, melt butter or margarine add flour slowly, stirring continually.
  • Step #4 Slowly add milk, stirring continually.
  • Step #5 Stir until mixture is smooth, add 1 c cheese slowly, stirring continually.
  • Step #6 Continue to stir & cook mixture until it just thickens.
  • Step #7 Add sliced onions, green peppers, mustard, stir & remove from heat.
  • Step #8 Arrange macaroni in a buttered 2 1/2 or 3-quart casserole.
  • Step #9 Pour mixture over macaroni.
  • Step #10 Spread the remaining c of shredded cheese over top of macaroni mixture.
  • Step #11 Sprinkle top paprika on top.
  • Step #12 Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 30 mins.
  • Step #13 If you like ham, put two c of lean cubed cooked ham in the mixture before pouring over macaroni.
