Mama's Cabbage Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/3 c All-purpose flour
  • 1/2 ts Beau Monde Spice uping
  • 1/4 c Vegetable oil
  • 1/4 ts Hot sauce
  • 2 Green onions, sliced
  • 1/4 ts Paprika
  • 1 c Italian-Spice uped bread crumbs, divided
  • 1/4 ts Salt
  • 1/2 c Milk
  • 3 tb Butter or margarine
  • 3 c Water
  • 1 ts Lemon juice
  • 1/4 ts Pepper
  • 1 lg Egg, lightly beaten
  • 1 lb Unpeeled medium-size fresh shrimp

Directions
  • Step #1 Bring water to a boil; add shrimp, & cook 3 to 5 mins or until shrimp turn pink.
  • Step #2 Drain well; rinse with cold water.
  • Step #3 Chill.
  • Step #4 Peel, devein, & chop shrimp.
  • Step #5 Melt butter in a heavy saucepan over a low heat; add flour, stirring until smooth.
  • Step #6 Cook 1 min, stirring constantly.
  • Step #7 slowly add milk; cook over med-heat/flame, stirring constantly, until mixture is thickened & bubbly.
  • Step #8 stir in the green onions & next 6 ingredients.
  • Step #9 mix shrimp, 1/2-c breadcrumbs, egg, & sauce mixture.
  • Step #10 Shape into 4 patties; dredge in remaining crumbs.
  • Step #11 Pour oil to depth of 1/2 inch into a skillet.
  • Step #12 Fry in hot oil until golden, turning once.
  • Step #13 Drain.
