Chinese Almond Cookies Recipe

Ingredients
  • 3 c all-purpose flour
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 c sliced almonds
  • 1/2 tsp water
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 c butter (no substitutes), softened
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 c sugar
  • 1 tsp almond extract

Directions
  • Step #1 In a mixing bowl, cream butter & sugar.
  • Step #2 Beat in egg & extract.
  • Step #3 Combine the flour, baking soda & salt; slowly add to creamed mixture.
  • Step #4 Roll into 1-in.
  • Step #5 balls.
  • Step #6 Place 2 in.
  • Step #7 apart on ungreased baking sheets.
  • Step #8 Flatten with a fork.
  • Step #9 Sprinkle top with almonds.
  • Step #10 In a small bowl, beat egg white & water.
  • Step #11 Brush over cookies.
  • Step #12 Bake at 325F degrees F for 14-16 mins or until edges & bottoms are lightly browned.
  • Step #13 Cool for 2 mins before removing to wire racks.
