  • Step #1 : Crust 1 1/2 c flour 1 1/2 TB sugar 11 TB butter 1 1/2 ea egg yolk -- mixed 2 TB ice water 1 1/4 c cream 1/2 c sugar 4 1/2 TB Dark brown sugar 4 1/2 TB honey 3/4 ts anise seed 2 ts vanilla 2 1/4 oz pistachio nuts 2 1/4 oz pine nuts 2 1/4 oz almonds 2 1/4 oz walnuts 2 1/4 oz figs, dried -- Calmyrna : preferred Mix flour & sugar together.
  • Step #2 Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal.
  • Step #3 Mix in yolk & water mixture until mixture will form into a ball.
  • Step #4 Cover with plastic wrap & chill for app.
  • Step #5 30 mins.
  • Step #6 Roll out to about 1/8 inch thick.
  • Step #7 Fit carefully to an 11 inch tart pan.
  • Step #8 Chill 15 mins in freezer.
  • Step #9 Cover with foil & fill with dried beans for blind baking.
  • Step #10 Bake 10 to 15 mins at 400=B0 until set.
  • Step #11 Remove beans & foil & bake an extra 15 mins until golden.
  • Step #12 Remove from oven.
  • Step #13 mix & cream together sugars, honey, vanilla, cream & anise seed in a heavy saucepan.
  • Step #14 Cook, stirring, over low heat/flame until sugars dissolve.
  • Step #15 Bring heat to medium-high & boil until mixture thickens & darkens slightly.
  • Step #16 stir in the fruit & nuts.
  • Step #17 Spoon mixture into baked tart crust.
  • Step #18 Bake 20 to 25 mins at 400F degrees until a deep amber color.
