Step #1 --FROSTING----- 1/2 c Butter 3 c Sifted confectioners sugar 2 ts Instant coffee dissolved in 2 tbsps hot water These chewy squares ooze brown sugary butterscotch.
Step #2 They becrumb the lips & besmear the chin, like home-baked goodies should.
Step #3 preheat your trusty oven to 350?.
Step #4 Melt butter in a large saucepan.
Step #5 Add sugar & beat well to mix.
Step #6 Cool the mixture slightly, then beat in the eggs & vanilla.
Step #7 Sift together flour, salt & baking powder.
Step #8 Stir it into the wet ingredients, then add the nuts.
Step #9 Mix well.
Step #10 Spread brownies in a greased 11 x 7 x 2-inch pan & bake this at 350? for 30 to 35 mins or until a light gold.
Step #11 Cool in the pan for 10 mins, then turn out.
Step #12 This is easiest if you up-end the pan over waxed paper, then turn the cake right side up.
Step #13 Let it finish cooling on a rack.
Step #14 To make the frosting, cream 1/2 c butter with confectioners sugar.
Step #15 Beat it until light, then beat in the coffee mixture.
