California Dip Bread Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1/2 c Pitted black olives, halved
  • 1 lg Green bell pepper, cored,
  • 1 lg Onion, cut into wedges
  • 1 1/4 ts Salt
  • 1 lg Yellow bell pepper, cored,
  • Seeded & cut into thin
  • 1 lg Red bell pepper, cored,

  • Seeded & cut into thin
  • Strips
  • 1/4 c sliced fresh parsley
  • 1/4 ts Black pepper
  • 1/4 c Fine dry bread crumbs
  • Strips
  • 1/3 lb Ground veal
  • 3 tb Olive oil
  • Seeded & cut into thin
  • 1/3 lb Ground pork
  • 1 lg Egg
  • 1/3 lb Ground beef
  • 1 ts Fennel seeds, crushed

Directions
  • Step #1 In 12" skillet over med-heat/flame,heat 1 tbsp.
  • Step #2 olive oil;add red, green & yellow peppers & onion;cook about 10 mins,stirring every once in awhile until tender.
  • Step #3 Meanwhile,in large bowl,mix Butcher's mix,egg,fennel seeds,parsley,bread crumbs,1/4 tsp.
  • Step #4 salt & black pepper;using hands or wooden spoon,mix well.
  • Step #5 Shape mixture into 1 1/4" balls.
  • Step #6 Using slotted spoon,remove vegetables from skillet to bowl; keep warm.
  • Step #7 To skillet,add in the remaining 2 tbsp.
  • Step #8 oil;heat over medium-high heat.
  • Step #9 Add meatballs;cook about 15 mins,turning frequently until well browned on all sides & cooked through.
  • Step #10 Return peppers to skillet, along with olives & remaining 1/2 tsp.
  • Step #11 salt.
  • Step #12 Cook about 1 min longer,stirring until well mixed & heated through.
  • Step #13 Makes 4 servings.
