California Fruit Bread Recipe

Ingredients
  • 14 oz Sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 c Water
  • 4 Eggs
  • 3/4 c Sugar
  • 2 ts Vanilla

Directions
  • Step #1 Place sugar in skillet & cook, stirring, over moderate heat until melted & golden brown.
  • Step #2 pour this into 1-quart casserole & swirl to coat sides & bottom evenly with caramel.
  • Step #3 Beat eggs.
  • Step #4 Add milk and beat until mixed.
  • Step #5 Beat in water & vanilla.
  • Step #6 Turn into prepared baking dish & place this in pan containing 1 inch hot water.
  • Step #7 bake this at 325F 1 hr 40 mins, or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
  • Step #8 Cool completely, then turn out on serving plate.
  • Step #9 Serves 6 to 8.
