Cape Cod Cranberry Velvet Pie Recipe

Ingredients
  • 1 c Cranberries; coarsely choppe
  • 2 ts Orange peel; grated
  • 1/2 ts Baking soda
  • 1/2 c Buttermilk or sour milk
  • 2 1/2 c Flour
  • 2 1/2 ts Baking powder
  • 3/4 c Butter or margarine
  • 2/3 c Sugar

Directions
  • Step #1 preheat your trusty oven to 400F.
  • Step #2 In mixing bowl, mix flour, baking powder and baking soda; cut in butter with pastry mixed or two knives.
  • Step #3 stir in the cranberries, orange peel & sugar; stir in the buttermilk just until ingredients are moist- ened.
  • Step #4 working on floured surface, shape dough into two 8-inch circles, 1/2-inch thick.
  • Step #5 Cut each circle into eight wedges & place on ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Step #6 Bake for 12 to 15 mins, until lightly browned.
