Caramel Filled Chocolate Bars Recipe

Ingredients
  • 2 c Bisquick Original or Reduced
  • 2/3 c Milk
  • 1 c Granulated sugar
  • 1 ts Vanilla extract
  • 1 c Granulated sugar
  • 2 1/2 c Water
  • Fat Mix
  • 1/4 c Margarine or butter

Directions
  • Step #1 Heat 1 c sugar in 5-qt Dutch oven over med-heat/flame, stirring every once in awhile, until melted.
  • Step #2 Cook, stirring constantly, until sugar is completely dissolved.
  • Step #3 CAREFULLY add butter, 1 extra c of sugar & the water.
  • Step #4 (Mixture will harden) Continue cooking, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon, until the sugar is totally dissolved.
  • Step #5 Heat to boiling; reduce heat, add vanilla extract.
  • Step #6 Simmer 5 mins.
  • Step #7 Mix Bisquick & milk until soft dough/batter forms.
  • Step #8 Drop by rounded tbspfuls into BOILING syrup.
  • Step #9 Cover tightly; reduce heat.
  • Step #10 Cook over low simmering heat for 15 mins.
  • Step #11 DO NOT REMOVE COVER while cooking.
  • Step #12 Serve warm and, if desired, with whipped cream.
